My wipers don't return when they're switched off yet they return when on intermittent, I've changed the return switch for a new one but still the same ?

I think there should be a permanent live feed that powers the return. Depending on the year, it may be Brown/green. On later vehicles, there appears to be some ECU control too.

there is a small relay on the outside of the wiper motor, it fails sometimes and has to be changed, here is one I made earlier:
