Just checked my insurance docs today before calling Adrian Flux to make a claim for my cracked windscreen and found the excess is £90.

I've found one with what looks like a decent condition rubber for £20. Collection only Sheffield.

interparcel will do pick up...just agree with seller first...they collect between 9 an 1

You're welcome...they were recommended to me by iannotts, i used the economy for 40kg of ammo boxes..even the economy is 2 day delivery!! I think 30kg is £8 .. mine was £10...bargain! Good luck...if you get a screen for £20 even with delivery its lots better than £90 innit!!

I got mine for £34 from Bolton Safety Glass... fitting was a donation to the tea kitty of £10. Its a tw*t to fit, people will say otherwise but it took 2 experience guys 25 minutes. I could never have done it.
Worth shopping about local via google and yellow pages. I was quoted £283 by Autoglass, the big guys just want insurance jobs.

I've just phoned a local independent firm who can replace the screen for £92 +vat which is pretty good so if I get really stuck and need it fixing quick,I have options.

If you do that i'd not involve the insurance...would you lose your no-claims bonus? Some firms do some dont.

I haven't informed the insurance company, I just looked on my documents to check the excess charge. I thought £90 was a bit steep, my cars windscreen excess is only £60 and lets face it a Defender's windscreen is very simple flat piece of glass that hasn't changed for 25 years.

I ended up fitting a TD5 frame and screen for £40 - only difference is the sunvisor mount holes are big screws in the TD5 rather than bolts in the 90 :) .

Got myself a £20 windscreen complete with top condition rubber.

Let the fitting fun begin  :D
