Thanks for the very good reply Paul. Ok so it does look like I am going to have to go down the bumper change route lol sooooo next question what 1 is the best option? As I already said it's not going to be a out and out off road car it's stil gunna be my every day car?
 
Yeah this Idea I agree drops the winch too far down, and would also fail the streering Guard I would imagen, If you give a shout to Co-Pang-Yang, I think he has mounted a winch in line with the bumper, so is dicreate and the fairlead is through the bumper, I have not looked at the install in depth but will be the way I will look at doing it.

I have the budget one from John Craddocks and I'm very happy with it.

The auto has an additional cooler at the front of the car so the winch bumper will need to stick out a bit more. Browse to John Craddocks website, should answer your questions etc.
 
I wanted a subtle winch setup on my 300.

This is a Superwinch EP9 mounted in a guardian bumper. it's so close coupled that the winch is entirley behind the grille and the bumper is closer than the original LR one.

No disrespect but that is the ugliest winch bumper I have ever seen....:D
