Yes it will. Careful which LT230 transfer box you get as some TD5 Disco2 didn't have centre diff lock fitted.

Yes the TD5 manual box is an R380, but it will not be a direct swap for a Tdi or V8 R380 box.

Ok thanks. I was wondering about the speedo drive as the td5 has an electronic one - doesn't it?

Also I was thinking I could change the gearbox input shaft for the shorter one and use my defender lt77 bell housing - but I'm guessing it's just not that easy?
 
The speedo drive unit (the electronic jobbie on the Td5) just pulls out as per the old mechanical type, it even uses the same coloured drive gear (depending on what size tyres you have)

So I can fix my oversize tyre / speedo problem with the correct coloured gear.

Who sell these gears then?

None. It's just that I need a new one and there was a low mileage TD5 one for sale.

I have now realised that there would be some benefit in fitting a 1.2 disco unit whist I'm at it.
