I wouldn't say that wasn't necessary as they have the same part number on them as the standard ones (PRC3237) so if they were forged in a different die I would have expected them to show a different number.
Plenty of close-up photos on the web showing the two different parts but clearly showing the same number so it looks like they have just been machined down. Probably find that with the safety factor that is built in to all lifting equipment they are still well within limits.
