Any recommendations on keeping one's white letters white for the life of the
tires? BFG AT's.

Currently use Spray 9 and a plastic bristle brush. Seems to do the job.

JC Whitney used to carry these paint based tire crayons that
worked pretty good after cleaning. Back when I had enough
free time and a sufficiently pliable lower back, I just
cleaned the lettering with bleach and a stiff brush, rinsed,
and touched up with the rubber paint crayon.

Turn the tire the other way round so it is black ?

Be careful sliding off of rocks, plowing through thick underbrush or
churning up a gravel road if you want to keep the tires looking nice. I
guess you may have to decide if they are for 'show' or for 'go'.

Don't discount using a second set of wheels and tires for off roading.

I want to see the white letters...its 1/2 the reason I like those tires.

Sliding/scruffing off of rocks is my biggest worry...but I can't let that
stop me from exploring parts unknown.

What a mess!
Try putting duct tape on the letters before doing mud digging or crawling.
Sure looks nice for the letters thereafter to be the only clean thing.

Yeah, but then you need a bottle of GooGone to get the
duct tape stickum off the tires.

I was quite disappointed to go looking to buy some Desert Duelers, and
finding the ones for my size wheel don't come with white lettering, so I
simply bought a tyre white pen, which is a pen a bit like the Uni Liquid
Paper type pen, but it has tyre white in it.
I then tediously went round and painted the entire set of tyres.
It looks heaps better, and I simply use the pen to touch up damage done out
bush (which is over due after a major trip last week)

I find my outline white letters on my Bridgestones lasted a lot longer
than the BFG solid white letters did. You might want to think about
that the next time you have to buy tires.
