Hi there,
Our Defender 90 needs windows in the back so that our boys can look at something else than a DVD screen...
I found a pair from Bearmach and Britpart. The price is (almost) the same but are there any differences (quality, mounting, spares)?
I don't want to be 'Penny wise and Pund foolish' so if there is any better out there... please tell!

Just finished this piece of the project. By adding my experience I hope anyone else might find this useful.

- Bought the BA181 set from Bearmach.
- There where no fitting instruction, rivets or filler strips included.
- I watched the video's of Masai and Wheeler Dealers a few times to get an idea of what the best way/order is. Don't drill holes at the 4 outer corners like in the Wheeler Dealer video. The windows don't have 90 degree corners so you will end up with 4 hole on each side.
- I measured the outer dimensions of the windows frame and draw the lines on masking tape I applied on the side panels. I cut out the shape of the corners from a piece of cardboard and used it as a mold (not sure if this is the correct word for it) to draw the line on the panel.
- A jigsaw with a saw blade for metal works fine. Do cut from the sides up and down. Otherwise you won't be able to make the turn.
- Be careful with the rounded corners. The jigsaw will try to make wider curve. Better waste a few blades than ending up with a big hole.
- I used a sealant kit from 3M (don't have the exact number with me). This black stuff seems to stay flexible and sticky forever.
- The BA181 has 24 rivet holes on each window frame. At first I thought that 24 would be enough but when putting in the rivets, the corners weren’t really thigh. 2 extra holes per corner would be better.
- The first filler strip I was advised to use was the MUC1005 but this doesn't stay in. I then tried the CQW000010 and that worked.

I bought a few after market things for our Defender and 80% came without any instructions. I asked Bearmach why and they state that it's not possible because every Defender is different....
The few instructions that did came with the parts (rear bulkhead bar and spare wheel carrier) had bad quality photo's and text that can be interpreted in more than 1 way.

With websites like this, Google and You Tube you will get a long way but when a manufacturer develops an accessory they also have to figure out how it should be fitted...

Next on my list is a set of Bearmach tree fenders (above the rear wheels) and a Terrafirma TF001 winch bumper.
