Im going to do the ERG Blanking thing. For a TD5 is it best to buy just the blanking plate off ebay for £8, or is it better to buy the kit from TD5Alive at about £53.

All i want to know is, is it worth spending the extra cash, and would i see extra benefit using the kit over the standard plate.

Sorry its another ERG Question, but i just wanted a definative answer.

Thanks

you'd be better off buying the plate off ebay and a tenners worth of petrol and a gasket.

fit the plate, take off the manifold & clean everything in petrol...

once you see the marmite that EGR left behind you'll wish you did it a long time ago!

doesnt the 5alive version allow you to fit a thermocouple so as to avoid over doing the boost pressure ?

i found it non beneficial but in the scheme of things if your doing more to it
in stages then yes its ok (as battenberg mentioned the ****e thats inside!!)its
worth it just to stop that!! ,i fitted the td5 alive kit and the only problem was
the 2 allen keys on the manifold 1 of them broke and you cant drillem out so
slotted mine out which works fine slap it back with plenty of coppaslip and then you can forget about em! i junked the middle zorst box at the same time
again no major difference but hey it sounds better. cheers

I just got the plate and gasket kit from P Senior on ebay. Do not forget to disconnect the small pipes on the vacuum on the inlet manifold side as well.

Get soaking your nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It helps if you undo the front egr pipe nuts as well so soak em all. Bin the down pipe if you have a particulate filter in it(big can thing) and get an 01 model down pipe instead.
