Actually yes I did. There is lots about who to buy a chassis from but not alot about a company who will supply the chassis and fit the thing and do anything else needed. I've looked alot on the net and there are a few - but a couple of pics and some story about 50 years in business isn't as good as the word of a few genuine enthusiasts. There is one thread where there is talk of various fitters but not any info on someone who has actually got the whole parts and service job.
I'm just hoping to hear from someone who may have recently had the benefit of a full replacement service and give me some pointers and here is why. I don't live on the mainland UK and would have to send my vehicle over there from Northern Ireland. This province is otherwise known as 'Treasure Island' to various suppliers and service companies because they know that a narrow strip of sea means you can add a zero on to the end of the price due to a lack of market choice. If I had the M6 on my back doorstep I would be able to drive around and check places out. As it is, I have to send or take my 90 over to England to get decent or good value work done - there's a fantastic choice of dealers and services there. We have a couple of dealerships and a couple of reputable independents here... and a couple of hundred cowboys in overalls. Either way, far too many zeros on the end.
This is a good forum with some really helpful users. Alternatively, there is a local Land Rover forum here connected to another website that actually resembles the galley of Blackbeard's best ship.
