Hi,

I've finally! ( thanks to a member of this forum) got some decent software that actually reads my codes!

Problem is I don't know where to start in order to fix them!!!

P0457 evaporate system leak
P0524 engine oil pressure too low
U0121 lost connection to abs module

Now after my last code read i changed MAf, low fuel pressure sensor, and oil

Any ideas??

After abit of searching around I'm going to change oil pressure switch,

Hope that will fix code p0524!

Not sure first step on other 2

Normally for a P0457 you need a smoke machine to trace down where the leak in the evap system is. I have heard of folks making their own smoke machine using "DJ fog machines" but those are not recommend for evap work due to the amount of oxygen being introduced to the system.

I am at a loss on how else you could trace a leak. I sure would never use the "use a cigar" trick in an evap system, that is an explosion waiting to happen.


The abs module one could be cables could be other tings, you check some of the threads on 3 amigos ? might be related/

Thanks I shall have a look at the best way to find a leak!

I have replaced the brake pedal switch before because I had the 3 amigos pop up but that was a while ago!

Thanks hopefully I'll get a chance to have a look after work tomorrow

Diesels don't have a evap system so I'm surprised it's flagging a fault code!

I don't think your car is compatible with EOBD readers which is why the faults don't make sense for a Td4

Oo ok thanks! Well before I had a garage read the codes and they said fuel pressure plausibility or something, so I fitted a new fuel pressure sensor, so I'm guessing maybe that didn't clear the fault and maybe that's what the evap leak code should be?

I haven't had a chance to look at car yet!

I'll see if there is another version of software that might work

All freelanders td4 are odb2 compliant even the older ones. It is based on the ECU used in the car.

I posted tons on this.

Did you get reset the codes and re-read the codes?

Thanks for letting me know about evap on diesel. Could it be the cap for the tank? I do not have Rave td4 so I don't know where the sensors are that would triger

On other diesels P0457 translates into loose fuel cap.

I read , reset and re read the codes about 4 times! Thanks will have a look today hopefully!
