Spot on. The amount of stuff I brought for my first trip, too much.
Personally; I'd write down what you think you need, then go on a 5/7 day camping trip somewhere relatively local taking just the bare essentials. And then see what you need, you'd be suprised with how little you can get away with.

chaps, thanks for responses, so...it is a hard top and empty at present. I am looking at perminant fixtures to fit most scenarios...i guess. Also planning at least one further seat in the back, apart from that, open to views. Re the web site, ta, will view 2 moz... of to pub,

ive built a bed for mine
with built in cooker invertor split charge system etc
good for one person
there a flat pack kit for somthing similar becoming available in feb from a 4x4 place in leeds
ill post a link ter my pics when i find the on pic bucket

Thanks all, useful start, the website griffdowg supplied was good, in particular the inventory list. Surprised at the length of it an curious re banagramms !!!. Any of you guys have any photos of the interiors to hold all this equipment, redhands point, permanent or removable.
Defenderdavie - the bed is in a 110 I assume or it is long term back probs if it is in a 90!!
One specific random question. Jerry cans - is there any benefit to the metal ones except they look pucker?

Its lengthy because it was our 1st trip and we travel as a solo vehicle. Everything is in that list, nothing is missing.
Bananagrams is a pretty good game when your bored! Like Scrabble, but easier
BananagramsMetal Jerry cans are extremely robust and cheap? what jerry can were you thinking of? dont take plastic unless its designed for it. I would only consider Scepter cans or generic military ones. I paid £5 for mine at a LR show

but yer best off wi metal jerry cans cheap as chips
i had a plastic one but it worn a hole where it rubbed on the holder over time
my metal ones just rattle

when im away laning i do as the wifes mot inter off roading
im making an add on to widen the bed for two
and the bench seat means two can cook and eat using the bed as a table
was converting a 110 into a camper aint got any pics but ill dig out the sketchs and post them

I'm going to get a couple of these :
Large Defender alloy wing top box Land Rover 90 110 on eBay (end time 23-Jan-10 19:51:05 GMT)
They are waterproof and will be good for keeping clothes and food etc :
Gonna put some rails on the sides to make two shelves
The bottom shelf will good for keeping a couple of wolf boxes safe. The top shelf will have a hinge so I can access the beers in the fridge, and will be lockable so everything under the shelf will be secure. There is a thought of maybe extending the top shelf with a hinge-able dog guard, that when folded up would make a dog guard, and when folded forward would extend the top shelf into the front cab to make a double bed.

i used to have a similar set up in my 90 and a board to the dash to make the bed
however as i used my landie as mi digs when working away in britain it didnt allow enuff head roof etc as i like to sleep in the landie as i used to spend 8 moths of theyear working way from home
although might be good if you carry a tent or have a roof tent

£100 for a shiney box? Crikey. I assume to make those boxes "secure" you would also have to make a secure fixing to the body of the car?
