cover it in chequer plate mate an do the other side while your at it
it'll look like it was always like that
when i battered my back end i did that, but i had a 3" hole covered with silicon to hide, the twot who bought it never bat'd an eyelid at it

Well it took me about 90 minutes but I was scrapping the fooker.
the method is as follows
Remove rear bumper
remove Rear light cluster
remove all interior panels folding seat etc from side that needs replacing.
Remove all glass & seals from panel
Locate all bolts and screws that are holding panel on. including the screws that are hidden by the rear door when it's closed. As you've probably realised the rear corner panel is attached to the side panel. Once you're sure you've undone everything get a flexible knife or sharpened hacksaw blade and a wide scraper. as the panel is heavily tiger sealed to the body struts and will need cutting thru as you peel the panel off. I'd say allow half a day at least. to remove old panel and fit new one. If your gonna be removing the replacement panel as well I'd leave a full day aside for it.
And you'll need a couple of tubes of panel adhesive/sealant as well

this panel is a real twot to remove!
i stripped a disco in the summer so i didn't matter how the panels were removed an it took ages to get them off!
all the boot interior has to come out bar the carpet
it's a real nightmare
and the drivers side is even worse coz you have to remove the fuel filler too, and it don't come free in a hurry

tis easy to get off the hard part is getting it off in a usable condition so you can put it back on the other vehikkle

Aye that might be a good idea. panel will be a twart to get off if it's just cut off the vehicle though. you need to be able to exert steady pressure as you peel it orf.

As promised, a nice photo of the damage to see if you lot have any ideas to avoid changing the panel:

Nah I think that calls for a replacement panel.
