What size is that on the back? Could just be the massive tyre on the front but it looks tiny...

That one on the back is the standard series 600" tyre which is tiny anyway!


The middle one here is a 7.5

I rekon it's gotta be 235/85's for me then, unless anyone's got a good argument for 235/70's?

Now you know what to look for if you decide to fit solid defender wheels - 6 1/2 wide is ok for 235/85. The older series rims at 5 1/2 wide are a bit narrow. The issue is further complicated by choice of tubed or tubeless. Series wheels are designed for tubed tyres.
I've seen limestone wolf wheels on a series, they don't look bad at all, but purists will object...
 
I didn't put them on it. They're coming off in favour of some hand made ones when I extend the axles out. Gonna give me the track width of a D3 and body width of a D4
 
Fedima Sirocco 35/10.5/16, but measure 37"

No lift, just parabolics and 1 ton shackles on rear only.

Hmmm I reckon my front parabolics are a bit sagged in that case....gonna lift the front on military dumb irons to perk them up a little anyway as the rear end of them are on the military shackles already as is the rear set of paras

For anybody else with a 235/85 vs 7.50 dilemma, here's a comparison:
235/85 on the back, 7.50 on the front.

235/85 on the left, 7.50 on the right.



They're slightly larger, however they have stacks of tread whereas the old ones were running low...

The steering is slightly heavier, and a lot more "snatchy" - probably due to the grippy tread pattern as well as the increased width.
The ride is a lot rougher as well, probably because the new tyres are 30psi, no idea what the old ones are :D

I do have one question regarding the new rims though, the hole in the centre is larger than the hub - is this a problem?




If so I may get the old tyres removed from the rims, paint the old rims, get the new tyres swapped over then sell the old tyres and new rims?
