Many posts about the failure to be able to fit 16" wheels to later freelanders, but what about fitting the later ones to a 2001 model? Will the 17" fit? Will freelander 2 wheels fit? Thanks Andrew

Freelander 2 no. I have 17's on my 2001, came with 16's. no issues with switching and I believe you can go to the later FL 1 18's.

My late model Freelander 1 has 17" wheels, they are Land Rover alloys and fit fine, cannot remember the exact tyre size off hand

Not quite. Land Rover modified the rear brake drums circa 2000. The larger brake drums required slight modifications to the wheels. Thus, pre-2000 Freelander alloys will not fit on post 2000 alloys AFAIK.

I also have 17" wheels on my TD4. I wish I didn't because it means I can't fit AT tyres to them.

got 20" on mine!! ;)
