Hello
My heater control panel shows an image of an open book and an exclamation mark. Does anybody know what this means? My aircon doesn't work (no gas) - could that be why? I also seem to be getting a bit less heat than I'd expect when it's properly cold outside, but that could just be my imagination.

It means the system has done a self diagnosis as it does every time you start up. It has found a fault, to find out what that fault is you have to get codes read. As you are having trouble with you heat it may well be a problem with a flap or blend motor. Try pressing the buttons under the unit and cycling the motors, sometimes they just get a little sticky.
 
As said, it means if you can't fix it yourself, it's time to get your cheque book out for a big bill.
 
Im sure that i read it somewhere that it also means that there could be a problem with a temp sender on the engine that does summert to the havec unit, Could be wrong but it defanatly rings a bell, it might of been in the handbook or in the rave files lol:doh:

Thanks for the feedback. So, how do I read the fault codes? Can I buy some software and a cable and use my laptop, or do I have to go to the garage?
I generally fix everything myself, so the checkbook cracks are funny but irrelevant. If I need to replace a blend motor I suppose the dash has to come out. Is there a good step-by-step somewhere on the web?
