Hi,

Just bought a Lichfield snorkle and noticed i need an extra pipe!

Its the pipe in the pic with the red arrow pointing to it.

I specificly need this pipe as the bit of the snorkle that goes into the wing just has a square hole!

I dont have the standard intake vent in my wing so im going to have to cut the square hole also!

Has anyone fitted one of these before?

Iv done loadsa searches on standard intake pipes on google but i cant find the one with the square bit on the end to match the shape of me snorkle base!

Any pointers would be much appreciated

Scott

Get a TD/200tdi wing and air inlet then ya snorkel will be a straight forwards job to install.

I dont mind the cutting bit as iv got a template to work from its just the actual connection with the pipe that goes from the airbox to the snorkle.

The bit im strugglin with is the square end of the pipe?

Im not sure..... the snorkle bit that goes up to the wing is the same shape as the square end of the hose on the pic.

Im strugglin to get me head round how they would attach and make a watertight seal??

the flexi pipe is the std air intake for a td or 200tdi defender ya screw the thing to the inside of the outer wing and the snorkel is secured to the outside of the wing via a couple of rivnuts. plenty of silicone between all the mating faces ensures it's watertight.

Aaaaaahhhhhhh that make sense mate!

In the pic it doesnt show the screws on the std pipe which was throwing me on how it fits to the wing!

Thanks for the info guys!! :D

thats a neat job, how come you mounted it that way?

Would that be a better seal than if i was to get hold of the std pipe with the square end to it?

i wanted a complete seal from the airbox direct to the snorkel,i just didnt want to rely on the wing gasket and silicone, and also its a fooker to remove if ya silicone it,then ya gotta clean all the silicone off before ya refit again.im not sayin the wing system dont work im sure it does,i just prefer the to have as little amount of joins as possible

Yeah im with ya on that! Did you just cut that plate to fit then simply silicone that plate to the snorkle? and is it a sturdy enough fit?

i bought a cheap plastic toolbox from b&q cost £2.99 cut the base out to the shape of the rear of the snorkel, cut a hole in the centre so the pipe was a tight fit,i used tiger seal both sides of the flexi hose and tiger seal to the plate and snorkel.make sure you rough up all plastic to give a good key for the seal..

do the snorkel hose to the plate 1st and leave for 2 days to cure properly, then fit to the snorkel and seal..

That sounds a great idea mate cheers for that!

Its going to be alot cheaper than buying a new std pipe also much simpler to fit!

Cant wait to get started now ha! :D
