Daft question but one thats bugging me. On a 01 2.5 p38, there is a blank panel just above the radio and below the clock. On the left hand side of this panel is a vent and right beside this vent is a small hole about 15mm dia. Any ideas what it is there for? Has it been drilled out to gain access to something else to save stripping the consoul or was there a button or switch there and the plug is missing. I was told that holes have been drilled in other parts to get easier access to fix things , 'o' rings in heater for example. Any Ideas?

You had me thinking on that one so I've nipped out and checked my 2000 2.5 and - no hole. From the size and location I would guess that a previous owner wanted a switch for something a was too lazy to strip the dash out as putting a switch there would mean that he could wire it up easily.

its the cars arsehole........ you must be lucky most of the P38 arseholes are located in the seat to steering wheel interface

I thought that but the hole is not dead centre from top to bottom but is half way on the raised bit at the bottom of this panel so a switch wouldn't side flat

Been on Rimmers wedsite, only have number 3 and 4 in stock, if i squeeze them together hard enough, do you think i could make a seven?

If you try that we'll all be expecting photographs.

On a serious note you do know that you can replace that wee panel do you? A good breakers will do one for pennies, as long as you haven't got the walnut interior.

I didn't think we were going to get back to serious, but thanks for that, didnt know that bit could be removed.
Any idea what the vent is for on the right hand side of this panel?

On the right hand side?
On mine the vent for the internal heat sensor that advises the climate control is on the left.

The hint is in the answer
