hi there
this seems to be a common fault on some series landies, what is the cause of this and how easy a fix is it?
any input much appreciated.
steve

Bent selector fork, worn teeth in the syncro hub or on the gear, too much end float, weak or sticking detents.
Reverse gear on a series can be a bent casing and 3rd 4th syncro could be twisted.
Strip the box and have a close inspection.

loose mainshaft nut can cause the excessive endfloat, accessible through inspection cover at top/rear.

hey up nrg
i had to get rid of my last rebuild, long story but i have the bug again and have money in my pocket (burning a hole i may add) and am looking to own another series but this time tax exempt.
there is a 109 series 2 in leeds that has taken my interest but no mot and engine wont spark into life.
then there was one in barnsley but keeps jumping out of 3rd gear (hence the question above) but will be giving that one a miss.
i was over past your workshop today, parents still live round the corner, will have to pop in for a cuppa

erm, nowt:eek:

not getting rid tho :p

not even for th eright price??????
cant get this 109 in leeds out of my head but no MOT and engine not running giving me the willies..... would take a punt if he brought the price down to under a grand but he wont let it go for less than 1750
