Havn't been on forum for a while, but am trying to remove rear axle balljoint from the axle and can't break the taper to remove joint.

I have a scissor tool but it is not quite big enough. Does giving the axle casing a good smack with a large hammer work or can you beat it out from underneath? or do I need a HGV style splitter.

a little bit of heat from a torch, and a long pry bar

hit the edge of the bracket holding joint hard it will pop out
