Im looking for a base 110 to build my challenge trayback.

Basically ive been looking for a cheap and cheerfull 200/300tdi thats mechanically sound, the body no being a concern as ill be tearing most of it off anyway

So i found one in a mechanics garage, 1998 300tdi 110 pickup. been sitting there for three months, dropped in by the owner after failing DOE (Irish equiv to commercial MOT) on rusted rear x/member. This is no ends to me as ill be chopping the back off anyway. besides that shes had an engine swap 4000 ish miles ago and has 100000 miles on it in total. I had a good bang around on the chassis for rust and seems to end at the low end of the bend behind the rear wheels, however there is a good bit of surface rust all round. Needs a new drivers door and sump is leaking a good bit.

I told the mechanic to ring and offer €1800 euro for it and see what he says, does that sound about right?

If all it failed on is rear cross member, think you'll be doing very well to get it for that

well i thought i was chancing my arm too but talking to others has me thinking its too much.

that is a bloody good price, i take it that you are in Ireland? i could see that on ebay for £4000 to £5000 easily well given what you've said.
