for me fender, but not the doors.

Im putting a shelf on the rear door, so it can fold down and use a camp stove on it, I have 2 bits of chequer, was going to attach one to the door, as a heat sheild, and the other hinged, so it will fold up agains the fixed one for storage, but then fold down for use.

Im trying to figure out what type of hinge to use so the 2 sit against each other, as flat as possible.
I can cut the fixed peice so the hinge is attached to the door if it makes it easier...

A quick Google for 'hinged shelf support' reveals a lot of rather nice gadgets that support a shelf but also allow you to fold it down (most of them seem to fold down rather than up). is that the sort of thing you're after?

I nicked it of somone else, so why not :) sorted me bed last night, making it so I can convert it easily to kip in it on weekends away :)

Ahh, so do I, but laning weekends are either just me, or me and me bigun (whos 8) got a plan for his bed tho.

got to sort curtainage this weekend.

The wife wont sleep in a tent let alone the back of the landy :)

easiest way to fit a shelf support is fix a leg to the underside of the shelf that will support the shelf at 90 degreesto the door then fit a length of webbing to the underside of the shelf and the bottom of the Leg. the when you lift the shelf Leg hangs down flat against shelf. Then when you drop the shelf the Webbing "pulls" the leg into position. and the shelf is then fully supported

I has done a little drawing to eggsplane it betterers..

The red line is the webbing strap. Other colours are available.. :D

as requested, piccies of me shelf.

gonna give the hinge a coat of silver so it matches in, but its what I had in, and gonna get a silver turnbuckle tomorrow.
Went with the chain in the end, otherwise the shelf would have had to be too high up for the size i wanted.
Just the right size for my lil stove & somwhere to put a pan next to it.
