Hi all i just purchased a defender 90 4c 2.5petrol 4 cylinder and was curious what transfer box is on it or what would be a better option to replace it with.

most likely 1.410 ,but you cant be 100% it hasnt been changed,and if its the same vehicle as clunk remove pto cover and check input gear and main shaft splines

If you look at the back of the transfer box near the filling plug there will be a serial number stamped on the casing.

The first 3 digits/letters can be used to identify what ratio it should be (provided not rebuilt and innards changed etc).

Ah i see. where abouts would the pto cover be?
