I am looking to buy a P38 and had a few questions:

The HSE is all the bells and whistles?
The Vogue is even better but only came in later
The Autobiography is the grand daddy.

Are there any models to studiously avoid and are there any options to look for in particular. I want to get the Harmon Kardon stereo, Leather seats and air suspension. I assume Air con is standard.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi.

You missed SE of your list. There are many diffrent options which change model year to year but still get called the same model.

As a example I own a 1997 4.0 SE. which comes with heated leather seats, HVAC, Cruise control. Electric mirrors. electric windows etc. but it dosn't have the uprated Harmon Kardon stereo or radio controls on the stearing wheel. But my fathers Rangie is a 1998 4.0 SE. same model. but has the uprated stereo with stearing wheel controls, high level brake light, extra velor trim on the door cards, and a leather gearstick.

Air Suspension (EAS) Is standard on all P38's. unless they have been converted back to coil springs.

There are some Rangies out there which have cloth seats and dont have hvac instead have the old 300 disco shape heater controls.

I would tend to stay clear of the early ones 94/95 model year.

Hope this is of some help

The 2.5DT has cloth seats, no air con, no elec seats, no trip comp. But it does mean it has less to go wrong! :)

So the 2.5DT sounds like a farm car then, If you are going to buy a Peggy then you want all the options otherwise look at all the fun you are going miss out on fixing all the faults.

"Farm Car' indeed, and like Bigstoo says "less to go wrong" ....... I'm quite happy with my 1995 2.5DT
