Hi been away for a while as had a lot of personal things to deal with.

They are all sorted now and the great defender hunt of 2010 is back on but looking like it may turn into 2011 before i find one:doh:

if you could choose any defender what one would you buy.

all the ones i look at 200 300 tdi people seem to want top dollar which i dont mind but they want top money for cr*p basically

would you bit the bullet and buy a newer one

its personal choice, drive the different engines and search all their problems etc. You will be driving it, not us. I would say TD5, but thats what i drive.

I quickly learnt... I bought a 1986 200 tdi. didnt really pay much for it so what do you expect but it turned out to be a heap of ****... everything that could leak did leak and everything that could break, broke. so swapped it for a 1999 td5, spent a bit more money on it but have never looked back.

Id go newer unless you are after an old one...

again personal choice.
