Help me out here, and please bear with me, as I'm a newcomer to all things landrover (although I did have a 1959 series 2 for quite some time)so my questions may seem a bit simple or obvious to some of you old timers!, I have just bought a 1.8 freelander, 2000 model, but on the log book it just says a freelander s-wagon...

What model have I got, how do I tell which model it is, what are the tell-tale signs???

Help!

Also, what is the best way to tell if the hill descent system is working?

Any help however small would be very much appreciated.

Thanks...skinpig

if it says s-wagon on the log book, i might be wrong here, but i would hazard a guess that you have bought a station wagon(hard top like an estate)

Yes, it is a station wagon, a five door hardtop - and a 1.8 petrol, but I assumed there would be some other letter/number combination to identify the model further - then again maybe I'm wrong and an s-wagon is all I've got !
