hi there i am new to forum so please forgive me if i have posted in wrong area
i am currently rebuilding a 1966 swb 88inch landy ,i have repaired and galvanized the chassis and have got it back up to rolling chassis ,
i have changed the diffs to range rover diffs, and now looking to find out wot combination of engine and gearbox to install ? any ideas
i am looking at the 200tdi but don't know what gearbox ,,any info would be great cheers lofty

Overfinch V8, standard box will handle it fine.

hi cheers yes i am new to this forum so still trying to work my way around sorry if it is in the wrong area ,, i think a v8 might be a little tame for the series box so need something else to go in with very little mods needed
would a 2.5 j19 go straight in with no alterations and still use the series box

hi i would use a 200tdi do a search on 200tdi series and you will find loads of info popular right now is a 200di no problem with the turbo if its from a disco but a fender 200tdi is no problem just have a look and dont ask about tyres

i was looking at a 200tdi but have been told they are pigs to fit and you need to alter all the downpipes i fancied a lt77 then was told they are constant 4 whhel drive so didnt like that idea and the tunnel needs cutting about ,, i nknow i am probly being fussy but dont realy want to start cutting my galvanised chassis about

200tdi without the turbo and standard series box is pretty much a straight fit

so you would all recomend the 200 tdi on the series box ?? do you have to cut the bulk head about to get the exhaust manifolds to drop down?

You can fit the 200tdi in simples. Just lift the engine mount an inch with packer. Or if you use a defender 200tdi ( watch this space might be breaking one post Xmas) you have turbo up high so no issue. All problems are sortable
