Now that the electrics are sorted, and there is power going to the glow plugs, I finally got around to changing the glow plugs. They are all fa"*ed.

Thats on my list of things to do as the 90 took a bit to fire up when we had the freezing weather..
and smokes a bit when at the first start of the morning...

how much did you pay for your new glow plugs? I've seen all kinds of prices!
 
£13 for the set from fleabay.

I followed Busterbus's guide, as usual, and had the job done in about 45mins.

usually somewhere between £5-£10 per plug but you'll probably find that when thems selling em on ebay see this post they'll just put their prices up to that range to make em seem like they're decent quality.:rolleyes::doh::p
 
I fitted some decently priced Britpart glowplugs to my 2.5NA D many years ago and they worked fine, no problems with them breaking down or loosing performance over time. Being so cheap I also replaced them as a complete set rather than testing them and only replacing the faulty one.:D

when we had that really cold weather and snow it would take 3 attempts to start it properly....
it would start, but died instantly as i let the igntion key go...
only kept runing after the 3rd attempt....

and smokes quite a bit at the start, kind of a white smoke with very intense exhaust fumes smell, but then again I have straight through pipe...

the first start of the day is always smokey, which stops after a few minutes runing on the drive, or a bit just driving down the road

after that it starts with no smoke the rest of the day
 
I did a set on the in-laws TD5 today , ( first time that I worked on one ) there fiddley buggers arnt they . only one worked !!!! .
 
At that price I don't mind changing them every year and am going to order another set as spares.
