my neighbour and myself have always used 0.8 on our landys for any welding that needed doing and not come across any probs with it. even when my neighbour welded his new rear cross member on his ninty so i guess it's 6 of one and half dozen of another really just use which ever you've been used to using mate.

Started on .8mm as that came with the welder, but after buying .6mm and using it, i found it easier to set up and use, still a novice though, but finally last night got to welding the footwell
heres a bit of a welding accident i had i used self shielding 0.8 wire with argon gas it made evrything soooo easy and neat it was unreal the welds were just proud of the surface of the sheet metal and had good penetration all the way along i think ill be doing it again without a doubt
the job i was doing was rebuilding the inner wheelarch wing on my mates disco 1 useing the steel sheeting off a 55 gallon oil drum

Thinner wire = less current needed which is easier to use when welding thinner panels, i also use a .8mm tip with .6mm wireStarted on .8mm as that came with the welder, but after buying .6mm and using it, i found it easier to set up and use, still a novice though, but finally last night got to welding the footwell
