I've noticed that there seems to be a lack of acceleration when in gear. This don't happen all the time (Not yet anyway) Let me explain. I was going up a hill just now in 3rd and wanted to accelerate so put my foot down and nothing. The engine wasn't labouring when in 3rd so expected to at least hear the engine revving. This also happened in 2nd gear on a straight road the other day. What do you think? cheers

Is it a diesel? If it is it could be a mucky fuel filter.
It is a diesel TD4 2006. I had a new filter fitted a couple of months ago. Not sure how many filters are on the car but the new one was fitted at the back near the tank I presume.

Somebody who is more knowlegable about these engines will be along soon to put you right. I only know about earlier diesels. Sorry.

Has this been a gradual reduction in performance? It sounds like it may be the MAF (mass air flow) meter.

Way to check is to unplug the MAF (it's at the reader of the engine to the left of the air filter housing -loads of threads on here with pictures) and see if performance improves. If it does, a new Bosch MAF can be had for around £100 if you shop around (over £200 from Land Rover).
