My windscreen washers are a bit weak, so before I start replacing stuff, is this a Discovery trait? The spray barely reaches above a 3rd up the screen, and it is obviously low pressure.

BTW, I have a '94 300 tdi.

Tried searching on the forum, but found nothing.

could be a number of things from a kinked pipe, partially blocked jets or a weak washer pump.

before replacing anything, blow the jets out with an airline and check the pipe for kinks or splits

OK, dunces question, but do I position the airline at the pump-end of the pipe or right at the jet?

my guess would be pump end, unless you wanted to make a water feature out of the washer bottle ;)

for cleaning out the jets use a pin or needle.

Noooo, I meant at the end of the pipe before the pump or just at the nozzle! :p My worry was that if I put 100psi (I can't regulate the pressure) through the pipe, it might balloon and split!

most likely summat simple. try clearing the nozzles and or any filter in the line.
you often get a bit of crud in the system.

to be safe then i would disconnect the pipes where you can gain access for blowing with your gob.
like you said if you ballon or split a good pipe jobs knackered.

take the pipe off the jets and blow the jets out, if this doesnt work, take the pipe off the washer bottle and blow this out. if this doesnt work, get someone to press the washer switch while you look to see if water is dripping on the floor ;)
