Hello,

I'm going to be replacing the rear cross member at some point and I thought I'd use the opportunity to fill the chassis with waxoyl. However, I never see anyone recommend this so is there any reason not to weld on a chassis that's full of new waxoyl?

For example is it flammable? Or will the heat remove any?

Basically is t a good idea?

If I was welding near waxoil, I would remove as much of it as possible from inside and outside of the chassis at, and around the area to be welded. It will burn locally with the heat involved in welding, but it won't go up like a flare. After the repair is complete, I would prime and paint the area and then recoat with waxoil. I would ALWAYS coat the inside of a chassis with some kind of rust inhibitor.
Edit...Don't wax the inside of the chassis until after the work is done.

Ok yeah that's what people seem to say. Only waxoyl once work is done. I just thought it could be idea to fill the chassis rails with waxoyl while the ends were open.

I'll weld then waxoyl.

I used to use waxoyl, but now use bilt hamber s-50 cavity wax - its much better at corrosion protection - and about the same price as waxoyl. A search on here, or the bilt hamber website is worth your time IMHO......

How are you applying the Waxoil? If you have a decent compressor invest in a half decent cavity wax gun. I got one of these and its first class.

Was thinking of using a compressor. I have no idea how long ago it was last done. So was going to clean it up the best I could and then waxoyl it. I have a air grease gun that looks similar to that. I wonder if that'll work.
