Someone said they'd got a full can kicking about that I could have, so I wondered if I could cut it with something and use a garden pressure sprayer to do the job?

What can I use to thin it?

and any other tips, tricks or suggestions before I commit to a day of mess under my car and a fortnight of washing it out of my hair?

Best not to thin it, heat it (no naked flame) with the can stood in boiling water with a heat scource to keep heated for at least 10/15 mins it will then thin down to allow spraying. Check the garden sprayer with some hot water first to make sure the heat does not effect the pump action.

i gotta do mine come the summer so , whats the best way to get it down into the chassis? park facing up hill and spray from the front?

I used to have a waxoil sprayer 'Waxoil' branded, but i havent seen it since I leant it to a mate for his old RX7...

...Anyway, It had a device which attached to the end of the lance which was like a very thin fish tank air hose (but a bit stiffer) with a nail in the end... it would produce a kind of umbrella shape spray. you'd insert it into a chassis hole and draw it back through to get to the inside.

I think i might try to recreate one out of exactly that, before I attempt the job!

Thanks stig, I wonder if I could get some of those 'click style liquid chemical hand warmers' and drop them into the sprayer to keep the waxoil workable after ive heated it up???

I'd wait till summer and pressure wash the chassis on a reeely reely hot day, use a hose pipe to get as much ****e from inside the chassis, even drilling holes in the low points to drain it out. Then leave it a few days so it's reeely reeely dry. Then squirt the waxoil on and in using a garden sprayer. Some say not to thin it down but I did, with turps and it's dried on Ok. I'd get a tarpaulin from Screwfix or some where and park the vehicle on it, unless you don't mind getting waxoil all over the drive.
