I have heard that this light coming on is more of a crap sensor issue than a problem [have a 2000 Disco II]. Came on about 30 miles ago and seems intermittent but mostly stays on - the other day it went off and came back on when I switched the lights on !! Performance has not been affected.

I have unclipped the wiring on the bottom of the filter and drained what seemed to be normal fuel [carefully refitting the filter, if anyone's not done this its easy to cross-thread it and bugger it up] but the light has stayed on !

Any other ideas anyone ?

wash the sensor off, it may be due to road salt getting in on the thing causing dampness around all that should be dry. otherwise try ebay, saw one on there for 99p, no bidders

ta a lot - will look at that tomorrow. When I was trying to check this out on some other forums I saw that some main dealer had told someone to permanently disconnect the wiring / electric plug from the sensor and tape it up out of the way because LR decided they didn't work being under the wheel arch and getting all the crap in the winter.

Anyone else heard that ?

Re e-bay, have already had a mooch on e-bay in case I need to get another one and only found one at the moment ..... for £16.95 !!!

My TD5 Disco doesn't have any wires to fit to the filter.

LR abandoned them before they got round to making my car.
