Just a thought pos, have cleaned yer intercooler out? If it's full o' crap this can lead tae a loss o' power

I have done yeah thanks. It took around four good flushes (vigorous shakes) full of paraffin before it ran clear and then I used a hair drier to help it evaporate. There was plenty of crap in there but it didn't really make much difference unfortunately.

have you checked that all hoses are sound i.e. no pin holes or splits and the same for the intercooler? if turbo pressure is escaping rather than going into the cylinders this would cause lack of power and black smoke

Yeah the turbo hoses are all brand new and in good condition. The intercooler was out the other day for cleaning, which is also in good condition with no leaks etc.
