My Rangie has been a little naughty of late, 40 miles into a holiday trip to Felixstowe the N/S rear and O/S front brake calipers decided they wanted to work permenantly, so I pulled over and let the brakes cool and continued on the rest of the journey without incident, when we got there I purchased some tools (I cant belive I atempted a hundred+ mile journey in a P38 without taking any tools) and set to on the brakes the N/S/R caliper was shot so being one to want everything right I called my dad to bring me down 4 new calipers, if ones gone the other are not far behind, anyway to cut a very long story short £300 and a 200+ mile round trip for dad and the motor had 4 new calipers fitted in under an hour with basic tools outside our static holiday caravan, the discs and pads (new all round) have only been on about 2 months and are brembo discs and Ferodo pads so I know they are ok and there is no vibration from the brakes whatsoever, so what I want to know is why does the car vibrate at speeds of around 50 MPH up and is really bad at 80, the wheels have been professionally balanced the tyres are round, the props seem ok as said the brakes are brand new. The only thing I can see is that there is some play in the VCU flange if you grab the prop and wiggle it up and down (not rotational movement) is this normal or is it the problem? I really want to sort this problem before it leads to a big problem, the car has cost me a fair chunk of wedge since purchase but I do not mind as it will be top notch when done and thats what happens when you buy a 13 year old car for £1800. Its a 4.0 facelift by the way. Any thought would be very welcome.
