Hi all in need of assistance again. anyone know where i can get hold of a rectifier for a valeo 110amp alternator, reference on old part 2546053 18 6275 00.
cheers all

I went through a similar discovery experience working out what regulator was in my 2001 DHSE Valeo alternator. See thread #32 http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/alternator-179681-4.html It's probably worth (as ever) searching all threads for more info. I haven't used them but Wood Auto seem to advertise a vast range of alternator bits, if nothing else get all the cross reference numbers and try on Ebay?

That doesn't look like the one in mine (but yours could be different), it definitely didn't have the three pin plug and integral brushes, just soldered in terminals and the two threaded post terminals. From memory mine looked more like this;
NEW VALEO ALTERNATOR RECTIFIER RENAULT VOLVO 2043 | eBay
With a little reseach and cross referencing you should find one!

Think the OP needs to say whether he is actually after. I took it to be the voltage controller. Maybe i should have read a bit more carefully. :):)

I know thats easier but ive already put a second hand one on and even thats only putting 13.78v at the alternator, so i want to refurb my old one just in case seeing as most of us on here drive such eco friendly cars:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi i thought id reduce recycle reuse

Land Rover produce 1st class scrap though;)

edit: meant to say: Excellent recyclable material

Hi all thanks for the replies, have found a site that sell the voltage regulator (the bit with the carbon brushes) just need this bit. RECTIFIER IPR844
Hope the link works

Ok look at the link i gave for volt regulator then look at sellers other items. But the rectifier just converts AC to DC so unless you have battery drain through a diode it will be fine. What you need is to clean up the slip rings and fit a new controller.

need to fit new rectifier as well as one of the diodes has got a bubble on it. went on me last week, battery light flashing, alternator fault, alarm fault, and then systems just started shutting down one by one. had to keep charging battery overnight until replacement alternator came. so going to do complete overhaul, new bearing slip ring etc etc.

I overhauled mine 2 weeks ago, preventive maintenance, good to know all the internals are in order, didn't look to bad but now it's new - satisfying little thing to do on a Sunday:)

Ok but if you have not done one before i suggest you take a look at Valeo slip ring and bearing replacement videos on Utube. If it is a split case with four bolts around the centre it can be quite a task.

cheers for that will take a look, But to get the right parts i need the alternator code and as the label on mine is sort of knackered im at a bit of a dead end unless anyone knows the specs for a 96 2.5 dse with valeo 110amp(about the only bit i can see on the label) alternator.:confused2:

Do a Google search with the info you do have, you should soon find one that looks like yours, from that you can get the part number.

Just had a look at Microcat. According to that it should be 105 amp. From Rimmers STC2227 £514.18 or STC2227E (Exchange unit) £271.86. Where do Land rover get their prices from. If you can identify yours it should be easy to get parts for Ebay is awash with them. The Irish lad who does the utube vids on them has a web site and sells parts i think.

Land Rover's are very environmentally friendly as they tend to be maintained by enthusiasts long after similar cars from other marques get scrapped.

Just fit a new controller on the S/H alternator then. It is obviously tired.
