About 3 years ago i was out laning when i was half way up a hill and my petrol pump cut out. Luckly i have lpg so was too bothered.

About 3 weeks ago i had a back fire from the lpg and now won't start. I have had a backfire before and it just blows the oiul return pipe off the rocker. Well since then it refuses to start. I have air and spark but little lpg even though the tanks are 3/4 full.

I decided to investigate the pump and found that the pump was fine, fuse was fine and it would appear that the relay is ok as it clicks. I also tried another relay. The relay i looked at was the one with the white and purple wires on it under the drivers seat. i tried to run a feed to the pump from the positive on this relay which turned the pump on but it still failed to fire. is

Anyone any ideas? is there a fuel cut off somewhere in the system?

Do you hear the whirr of the fuel pump when the ignition is live or if you apply a live feed to the pump?

If not, no fuel pump + no fuel pressure = no go.

If you have the whirr, then it might be that the backfire you had was so great that it has blown up the Air Mass Meter between the air filter and the plenum chamber.
It is rare, but it has been known for even the plenum chamber internals to be blown to bits from an acutely bad backfire.

I would have thought it would be the Air Mass Meter due to the shear distance it is away from the plenum chamber due to the non standard set up.

I have hot wired the pump to make sure that it is pumping which i can confirm it is doing, but there is no feed to the pump. I have power at the relay just not at the pump.

You've hotwired the pump so it's pressurising the fuel line, you got a spark, disable the LPG completely so its only petrol so it should in theory run.
Any orange ! light on the dash lit up? If so, ECU fault.
My vee 8 runs (albeit roughly) with the air mass meter unplugged so even if yours was faulty it perhaps should still run.
Ah, is the fuel pump not running because the LPG system is at fault and not allowing it to run on petrol, the LPG bypasses the whole petrol system when it switches over.

yes that is a turbo lurking down there . It makes it a 4 hour job to change the plugs which have to be done every 6k

I will disconnect all the wiring from the lpg tomorrow as its too dark now. Remove the fuel line in the engine bay to make sure that the fuel is actually getting to the engine when i hot wire the pump.

I did remove the relay for the lpg between the fuel pump and lpg switch so this in theory would cancel the circit as it is an early lpg system and not a multi point.
