Hi guys, my dad has decided to gutt his 90 of it's 2.5l J19 engine and drop in a rover 3.5 V8. It's just his weekend toy which is why we decided a v8 instead of a trusty 200tdi.
I have been looking everywhere for a detailed thread of everything we will need for the transplant (with pictures
) and i can't seem to find one .
So i thought it would be a good idea to make one.
so what do i need?
i realise that the gearbox is also going to need to be replaced with a lt85 or i've heard a rumour that the R380 fits straight to a V8?
discovery gearboxes are too long and i don't want to have to move all his engine and transmission mounts so that the gear stick ends up replacing his beloved cubby box.
another question is, will a discovery v8 and a defender v8 have different engine mounts?
anyone else done this and can shed some light on the subject?
I have a rebuilt 3.5V8 from a discovery ready to go in and i will be updating this thread with any progress made (with pictures )
