Hi all,

I've recently removed a 2.5VM engine and box from my Hybrid 90 and replaced it with a 3.5EFI and 4 speed auto from a donor rangey. The engine in the rangey was perfect, sitting at halfway on the temperature gauge no matter what. Since the engine has been put in to the 90 and the temp sender on the V8 connected to the 90's temperature gauge, the temperature gauge reads just below red. The engine temperature is fine with the thermostat opening correctly and the radiator is fine. Is the temperature gauge on a 90 calibrated differently to that of a rangey? If so, any suggestions since although I know the engine is cooling correctly, its a bit off putting when you glance down at the gauge!

Cheers

Do yu think yhat it could be coz its running hotter in the 90, coz the cooling system aint designed fur a 3.5 V8? Have yu tried connecting the sensor to a Rangie temp gauge and seeing if it reads different?

Good idea, I still have the Rangey (although it looks a little sorry for itself)
I'm using a 110 V8 radiator, other than that nothing else has changed. I'm still using the Viscous fan and adapted range rover radiator cowling.

Dunt the guage and sender have to be a matched pair?

Have you tried connecting the guage frum the Rangey (if you still have it), even temporarily if it dunt fit the hole fer it, just to check like. Engine's prob' fine, it's just a mis-match of parts................prob'!

i sed that, Mucus! ffs - "Have yu tried connecting the sensor to a Rangie temp gauge and seeing if it reads different?"

keep taking the tablets! and stop taking the funny fags;)

its ok - i know - yu are just suffering slitty withdrawal symptoms :D
