Simple question, is it the transfer box that's different between the V8 and 300tdi manual gearbox or is it the whole lot?

Only asking as I want to convert my auto V8 to manual and might be getting my hands on a cheap 300.

the difference between petrol and diesel gearboxes is the input shaft - so you would need a petrol manual box.

not sure how common they are in 300 shape (r380 box), there are lots of 200 shape manual v8s (lt77 box) like mine for instance, but the lt77 box is more difficult to use.

if you cant find a r380 petrol box, you'll have to get a 300tdi box and change the input shaft (something that ashcroft could do but they seem to pull your pants down as a general rule)

transfer boxes are the same its only p38 where you get different input shafts and hence different t/boxes,so any lt230 will fit
