Understand fully though that buying a used BeCM isn't like a wiper motor or something, you won't be able to buy it, unplug the old one, plug the new one in and then it will all magically work.

You need to take out your old BeCM and send it off along with your new (used) one to a specialist who can extract the vehicle specific data from the old and program it into the new.

Do not be under any illusion that you can just plug the one you got off eBay in and it will work.

Thanks guys for the heads up. I am not positive its the becm but that what some people have told me. My rover problem is that the leftside parking lights will not cut off even after the rover is turned off.
 
before jumping to bcem it is worth both checking that bcem connectors are not corroded-mine behaved strangely and the dash lights would go out when passenger door opened. wiper intermittant would not work on damp days

Turned out to be a corroded connector on bcem unit, used electrical switch cleaner and no more issues.

As before check the diagram with rave before parting with any cash
 
clean the connections or at least unplug em a few times to get a good connection. dont buy another one as it will be useless and expensive to sort.
 
You may be able to swop the top board of a used BECM into your faulty one - its the lower board that has the logic circuits and vehicle specific data such as lockset bar code etc.
 
while wearing an earthing strap so as not to kill bcem with static
