you really have had everything go wrong, have you tried swapping nipples around to see if it needs a couple of nipples maybe out of old caliper or if its housing machined badly ,thats what i hate about my job sometims ,the same job can be a piece of **** and a couple of hours later your feeling pleased or what youve had with parts and pipes ,all parts genuine or otherwise can be poor as i know after fitting genuine clutch that wouldnt clear okay they replace part but thats another day and more work ,had a customer in france i supplied gear box to he fitted 3 cluthes before one worked properly, that does make you doubt yourself

Its really ****ing me off to be honest, even basic quality control would have caught this, I have no faith in the calipers now so changing is the only way forward I feel. If I try another nipple it may show and void whatever warranty I may have.

I don't know whether to order a pair from somewhere else or order AP from paddocks, I doubt I will use paddocks again, with the swivel pin aggro, the wrong brake pins and now this, it's not worth the trouble, I will be othe phone Monday am.

how would they know if you swapped it back again after all there already used, try it may save your self time .ive used alot of those calipers and had very little trouble ,but some have had poor screw 1 had leaky piston but on the whole good ,if there not fit for purpose they will change them ,paddocks like alot of places dont have skilled parts people who know whats what youd be surprised at the different companies that ask me what parts numbers are needed ,definately worth ago after the poor luck youve had ,they wouldnt know as i say ,to start with they dont know any more than you do and secondly they will just get binned

its only 4 pistons they will leak or not ,as said could be poor machined housing in which case just get it swapped or if nipple just get more of those best to know though ,i fitted alot for obvious reason on these older vehicles including my v8 vented disco which has been on then a good few years now ,which doesnt mean yours are good or poor just that they can be,was the flexi wrong packaged part ? i have had instances were correct parts were no longer made and had to be remade ,like 110 rear back plates were both sides were superceded to same part number meaning however many you bought, shoes only fitted on one side properly took 8 months or more to sort

The flexi saga turned out to be a duff thread, I cleaned it out and retried it and it worked, if I had tried the other side first it would have proved that the threads matched, 50/50 choice I guess.

Ok thanks James, I swapped a couple of old nipples as you suggested and that seems to have got it. Test drive went well, pedal is still a bit spongy so tomorrow I'll whip the wheels off, bleed again and check for leaks all round then road test again.

Hopefully that will be the back of this job, the boot floor seemed easy compared to this.

I'll update tomorrow with a picture :)

All done, seems to be leak free, bled them again and got a few bubbles out, pedal feels better now.

Hopefully thats the end of that saga:) now that I've had a drive and stopped swearing at her, it's back to loving the old girl again;);)

Thanks to all who offered advice.
