Hi all, I'm stranded in Herefordshire, halfway between Ross on Wye and Monmouth in a serously broken 110 - I'm pretty sure the rear diff's given up the ghost - last night while driving at about 10 mph, with no prior warning she went bang and stopped - the engine runs fie, I can select a gea but when releasing the clutch, it sounds like rolling thunder from underneath the car and there is no movement in any gear - forward or reverse. Also the diff is covered in oil, so I'm guessing its knackered. I need to get back to Leeds (about 200 miles away) today. I've found a couple of local independent LR outfits - Wye Valley Garage in Ross and BG Landrover in Whitchuch. Does anyone know either of these outfits or have any other recommendations. Assuming they have the parts is it hopelessly optimistic to even hope tha it might get fixed today?:mad::mad:

Cheers,

Have you not got breakdown cover or know someone who'll let you use their account?

I do, but it will need fixing anyway, so if I can get it done today by a decent local garage, it will save a load of hassle and an 7 hour ride in a transporter

Ah right, I just presumed that you needed help getting home.

Panic over!! Paul from BG Land Rover in Whitchurch has been over - 2 broken half shafts diagnosed. It's on the ramp now, being sorted and Paul's lent me a car to use in the meantime, so I'm now sitting in glorious sunshine, in the garden of my fave pub - The Old Ferrie Inn at Symonds Yat, by the side of the River Wye!! Happy Days. Even the fact that I'm only down here today cos the overflow from the septic tank of the house up the hill behind mine is overflowing into my garden doesn't seem quitew so bad now!!!

Thanks for suggestions/replies - much appreciated.

Top stuff. Gad its now sorted.

Dont get too comfy with ya beer ya git. Get back to your poo palace! ;):p:D
