I give up. The fekin job is doing me fekin head in. I found a vise that was large enough, mounted it on a solid bench, gre4ased up the cups making sure the needles were back tight, put in the first cup, put in the spider, put in the second cup and made sure the spider went into both cups ok. Put it into the vise and had a hell of a job doing it up cos it was so bloody tight, but got there. Then I put a socket in and pressed in one side n got the clip in. Went to do the other side and I just can not get it tight enough to get the clip in.
My head is really banging now. The prop is going in the bin n I am gonna buy a new one thats all fitted up..

Now when the spider is in and the bearings can't fall out, is the time to belt it.

You are using a slightly smaller socket to drive em in, aren't you??

A tip I find works, is to tighten the vise up then smack the yoke sharply with an hammer. this tends to jolt the yoke into sliding over the cup.

I was using a smaller socket. It wouldnt push in otherwise..
I think I must of bent something when I was first trying.
I did find that one of the plastic caps at the end of the spider had pushed right up inside the spider, probably due to the pressure of me wacking it. All that grease put into the cups has to go somewhere when its wacked in place..
Does that make sense..? I am not sure even I understand me writing there..

make sure the zert fitting is out and extra grease will squeeze out, the put zert fitting back in

He means grease nipple ^^^^

It does sound like you've mullered the noo UJ's especially if the dust cap has dislodged.

Noo UJ and start again. but get Hardy Spicer ones, not ****part. The good news is removing the mullered cups will probably make it easier to get the noo one back in..

They were bearmach ones. I did remove the grease nipple on the second uj as I broke it off on the first one..

you fit one cup then spider then press that cup with spider in right through till cup nearly pops out of the other side of yoke ,then you fit second cup as spider will then be located in both cups,the short yoke is often slightly tapered so vice method can mean you pressing at a slight angle which jams cups in which case pack with a screw driver etc between yoke and vice

Ahhh, that explains why I was having so much trouble..

Prob britpart reboxed then

get Hardy Spicer or GKN ya pay a bit more but it's worth it. and no hammering this time well not until the spider is in the cup.

If you put a little cooper coat on the cup before you fit it to they yoke that helps it slide easier. Clean the yoke where the cups go with a wire brush in your drill also helps

i didnt have a vice or big enuff Gclamp, and done mine fine, lay 1str cup on floor, and tap the yoke gently to get it started, insert spider, as far down as poss, soo it stops the neelded falling out, keep tapping the yoke till its down., turn over (whilst hoding spider)
repeat the process, put cup 2 on the floor, tap in gently, then when its far enough, hold the spider so its in both cups and tap it down the rest of the way.
use socket or drift to get them home to put the clips in.
