I have just bought a 2002 RR 4.6 HSE It has Michelin tires in front and Continental at back all good, I was told I should only have 4 of the same or it could affect the driveability of the car and possibly cause problems with the 4wd has anyone any comment?
Thanks
Peter

As long as they are all he same size it won't affect the 4wd system -mind you, I f it was me I would be changing them for a matching set
Tyres have different handling characteristics and may lead to some "interesting" handling, especially in the wet
Don't be so tight, buy a new set - is it worth compromising the handling/braking efficiency for a few hundred quid ?
It's only that small patch of rubber that keeps you on the black stuff and if you ferry your family around in it then it's surely a no - brainer

As long as they are the same size and type, e.g. road, all terrain etc. it shouldn't make much difference. If you had a set of say 4 Michelin and you scrapped one, and the only available tyre was a Good Year or other make-would you leave the car where it was and wait for a Michelin to arrive??
Although I have 4 Bridgestones on the car, the spare, which has hardly been used is a Good Year and I wouldn't lose any sleep if I had to put it on the car and drive it.

That's not what I meant - and you know it ! :p
My spare doesn't match the rest of my tyres either but of course I would be happy to use it until I could get the tyre sorted
I just feel personally, I am happier having matching tyres on a car weighing in excess of 2 tons and being capable of a fair turn of speed (diesels excepted :D) - I have always been fussy about tyres, just the way I am I suppose
Anyway - if you can afford a 2002 range rover then surely you can afford a matching set of matching tyres

I would think that the main thing is having a set of quality tyres on the car, not remoulds for example. Of course if you are replacing the tyres, you would go for all the same.
I agree 100% that the tyres are the only thing between the road and the cemetary
