Hi, fairly new to all this 4x4 stuff can anyone recommend a decent brand of tyre and advice on AT or MUD. I don't do many miles in the 90 as its for weekends/camping etc expect to do greenlaning for the foreseeable future.

Many websites about that give 4x4 tyre reviews and a few on here for that matter. I have even written two myself.
 
Loads and loads of stuff on here about tyres if you search. It's quite a good search engine and will reveal quite a lot. There is a certain etiquette here, have a REALLY good search and only then start a thread (goes for any forum in my experience). Tyres are especially a subject which people just fire a question in and then get a surprise at the response.

I have really average all terrains on my Discovery cheap as chips and have no problems getting from beat to beat....or on the road in rain or snow....no idea what they are...just came with the wheels...possibly Nexen AT? if I am approaching a problem area I just stick her in diff lock and drive appropriately.

Just fitted Event AT on the 110, seem grippy and should be hard wearing, proof will be when we do our big off road trip next month.
All depends on what you mainly use it for. some on here have two sets of tyres and thats not a cheap option to set up but you then get the exact tyre for the day.
Lots on the net took me weeks to make my mind up from all the pros and cons but in the the end AT and avoided re-treads

I have three sets of wheels and tyres for my 90, but I have lent my second best ATs to Martyn 110, I wasn't using them, and they were just taking up shed space here. I only have one set for the D2 though, they are Roadian AT, fine for towing.
 
Couldn't be pleased more with the Cooper STT's I've got. Replaced some cheapo AT tyres. For the price, though, those cheap AT's were bloody brilliant off road at 22psi :O

Was looking at BF goodrich MT's but didn't hear good things about them in the wet.

No doubt there a good tyre, but Cooper STT's are a little cheaper, are quieter and grip better in the wet as they have a little more siping. Will be interesting to see how they cope in the snow. In terms of off road ability I'd say they are about the same. If I wanna go somewhere, the STT's have taken me there!
 
As already stated, there are loads of threads on here regarding tyres.
Basically, Mud tyres are noisy on the road and don't grip very well in the wet.
AT,s better on the road not so good in extreme conditions in the Mud.
I use mine often in the forest, I run on AT's never got stuck where I coudn't engage diff lock and reverse out.
I currently have General Graber AT2's and I think they are very good. Good on the road, good in snow, quiet and grip well in the wet.
On a recent trip across the Sahara in Morocco all the guys running on General Grabers had no problems. One guy was running BF goodrich AT's and the tread shreaded on them quiet badly, If they were mine I would have taken them back for a refund. He covered the same terain as we had.
Money wise, you get what you pay for. There are cheaper tyres around but I find when you take everything into account the General Grabers AT2's work out very well. Noticably better in the wet. They only have to help you prevent one accident and they will have paid for themselves.

I'd looked at at2's but they have been discontinued and replaced with at's and as I'm not buying all four at once I was concerned as to whether I'd be able to get a matching set, also the at's only have a few mils of tread wear on the inner and outer tread until the whole band becomes one solid block.

After reading reviews on km2's they seemed pretty good and if they aren't what I want they second hand desirability of them is quite high.
