Struggling to find a definitive answer to this so I'm gonna have to ask even though it's been asked no end of times.

The first thing I'm going to do to my new 90 is some decent tyres. if it makes a difference I'll lift it first obviously. it's a 1993 200tdi "truck cab".

What tyre sizes should I be looking at, with laneing in mind? I've seen on countless occasions the benefits of bigger diameter tyres to get everything further off the ground (diffs and axles included). Obviously I need to draw a line somewhere though as it's also the car that gets me to/from work etc.

Soo, what's the biggest tyres I can go for without causing myself problems? and, why?

In my opinion... 265/75/r16... you dont really need a 2 inch lift. Thats what this size tyre does... some protection for your diffs and a steering guard could be an investment against a hidden rock or two.
Go for A/T tyres not muds if you are using it mostly on the road. Goodridge or General Tyre are popular.
Why.... why not :) You do have other options but thats my 2p's worth.

Thanks for that, as it happens - I've got a set of road wheels and tyres; the plan was to only use my mud tyres (on my disco) for laneing and swap them over when it doesn't look like i'll be going for a while - hasn't really worked out like that though.

IF I were to do that this time round, what size would you suggest for the mud tyres?

I have a 200tdi with 2" lift. I put Insa Turbo Dakars 265/75r16's on but just needed to adjust the steering stop locks slightly as the tyres hit the radius arms on full lock.

Can't remember what size are on my disco, 265/75 rings a bell though, and I've often wanted taller, hence the question. No problem adjusting steering stops; I've got used to having the turning circle of a cruise liner lol.

Is there no cheaper option to wheel spacers? Offset wheels for example?

I put 255 85 16 muds on black modulars on my 110 and didn't need to fanny about with lifts or adjusting steering stops. Looked great.

Looks a bit silly now I've put the boost alloys back on.

yeah, my disco doesn't look right with road going rims and tyres on now.

I'll worry about getting the 90 first of all though, I'll keep you updated.
