Its time to re shod my d1.Its a totaly standard work horse which is 90 % of the time on road the other 10 on tracks not off roading though.I just want a good all round set of tyres to use and get me through another winters snow if it is anything like last year.Anyone got any recomendations from personal use esp concerning long term wear.
Cheers in advance

I just got a set of general grabber at's, whatch out for big rise in fuel consumption, I will be trying higher pressures and if that don't work will be selling them and getting full road biased tyres, mpg went from 33-35 down to 27.

The letters S E A R C H are getting a bit worn on my keyboard so I try not to use them too much, but:

I would fit a set of BFG all terrain in standard size.

Excellent Tyres...

Tried search but i want to know how people have found the tyres they are using every day not just what they put on.

I usually put jeans on, obviously if I'm at work then I put my workwear on.

My tyres are good, but they are muds so probably not what you're after...

I use at2 good on road and round the farms and boat yards my td5 returns around 33 but it has been chipped by mike and all the usual upgrades.

Engineer:):)

My Disco's on a set of Marshal Matrac STX and I can't fault em, very quiet on the road, mpg is excellent, enough grip when I'm off road (just lanes leading to my shooting permissions etc) and they were as cheap as chips. :D

i usually o to my local independant tyre place and get whatever reasonably priced tyre theyve got on the shelf.... they dont stock crap cos they rely on repeat business from the locals.... ive been dealin with them father and son for best part of thirty years. think the the last pair were kumho

Cooper tyres.

I know lots that run the Cooper Discoverer ST's and rate them very highly, I would class them as an aggressive AT.

My personal option for a Discovery like yours is to go one down in the Cooper range. I've just ordered two Cooper Discoverer ATR's which are a nice AT pattern and perform really well offroad and on. The are the same pattern as the Wildcat AT which have been discontinued for over 5 years.

My 300Tdi Disco has 4 of the wildcat ones fitted and a brand new for the spare and as I have been so impressed with them I wanted the same again.

Regarding wear rate? Mine is a Jap reimport and I have the receipt for when these tyres were purchased which was kept by the last owner. He had it when it first came back and fitted the tyres straight off, they have been on for five and a half years and clocked 52000 miles. The fronts are near the wear markers but would probably do another 1 to 2K, the rears easily have another year left in them.

I have ordered the ATR's at £79.99 each including VAT and hope they last as well as the others!

say this a lot - BFG All terrains

ones on the front have donwe 30000miles and are about half way
ones on the back 20000mls and looking good,

I did get a bit stuck on my last outing but then so did the 110 on mud tyres that came to help me out, I was so stuck i had to reverse for 50yds then try another route :)

so dave, what tyres did you have before the current ones?

It had four different makes, goodrich, Michelin, pirelli and another. All road biased though but all knackered, the one that started leaking turned out to have a 12" long split around it between what was left of the treads. I was running 26f and 35r.

I have upped the Grabbers to 38psi all round and will check at the next refill.
