I have a 55 plate freelander td4 with 17" alloys and low profile tyres...
tried to put 16" alloys on to it with AT tyres but the wheels catch the brake calipers.....
any advice ?

fit spacers or change your alloys to the later type (which are designed to fit the upgraded callipers)

thought about spacers buy the landy garage told me not ... not sure why ?

you would only need 5mm, i think and won't make any other difference to the handling iirc

do you know if I could get an off semi off road tyre to fit the 17" alloy ? would it need to be low profile ?

dunno try using an online tyre size widget

just don't exceed the maximum diameter of a standard tyre

I've got 5mm spacers all round, to allow my 16' old style freebie alloys to fit over my 03 Td4 calipers and not had any issues to date.
Spent ages looking for some 17' ATs and they were like rocking horse 5h1t. Bought some old 16's, set of spacers and a new set of BFGs AT. Plenty of thread left on the studs and no bearing issues to date
