Do you increase the length of the rod to increase turbo boost

I'm going to be surprised, shocked even, if lengthening the turbo waste gate actuator rod increases the pressure at which the waste-gate opens.

EVERY turbo I have dealt with one SHORTENS the rod to raise the maximum boost pressure.

Best not to interfere with it till you have fitted a gauge.

I had this issue with my TD5 it was not running right (kept defaulting into lower power mode after using full throttle). Found paint seal broken on turbo wastegate rod...more threads showing=more boost. Therefore the longer the rod was, the more boost I was getting. Shortened rod (by one thread...one full turn) and boost reduced, cured fault...no defaulting into "reduced power mode" after full throttle use.
Tried another full turn of the rod (shorter) and there was a noticeable reduction in performance. This only related to my TD5 so other engines may work the opposite way.

It's not the way our TD5 Defender works, so yours must be different.

If it's a Disco TD5 the ECU controls boost so don't change the rod!
